My brother is 22 years old, he returned from Iraq 3 years ago as a different person which I expected, but in the last three years he has gotten progressively worse. He will not get help even though he knows he needs it. He has become aggresive and dangerous, he always talks about how he wants to just kill himself, He gets into trouble with the law all the time, but all they do is throw him in jail for a couple months and he comes out worse. He openly admits that it isn't going to stop until he kills himself or someone else. He doesn't sleep barely eats anything, he doesn't go anywhere or do anything outside of his house. He is verbally and emotionally and even physically (a few times) abusive to his wife. He needs help and I can't find anywhere to go for it, everyone tells me he has to voluntarily sign himself into a rehab, Since when do people that have mental issues vonluntarily send themselves away? He is right it isn't going to end , it is going to get worse until he really hurts someone and himself, I need to find a way to stop this now. And I need help. Anyone that has any information at all please help me. Thank you.Is anyone aware of any sort of program or even someone that could help with an Iraq war veteran.?
If you demand that he be checked for psychiatric evaluation the next time the police are called. He will be held until he is evaluated. The Veterans Administration handle cases like this all the time. Contact your local VA medical center and they will advise you!Is anyone aware of any sort of program or even someone that could help with an Iraq war veteran.?
me thinks this is not a real question.
Just tell the Cops he is Combat Veteran %26amp; Suicidal...
They will probably just take him to the VA
for evaluation...as He has ';Acute PTSD';...
Since he won't seek treatment on his own...
Then the Law will make him seek treatment...
They can lock him up for 30 days
for a Psychiatric Evaluation...
If you can get him to a VA Hospital...
and tell them he is Suicidal they will
admit him right then...
Here is a number you can call 24/7/365...
';Recommended by Gen. Franks';
';If in Emotional Crisis Call 1-800-273-TALK
(8255)...Press 1 For Veterans';
They are set up to Help Veterans...
';Tell him he is not the only Veteran
in that Boat that he is Rocking';...
