How can i get my baby hamster more comfortable around me?

I just adopted a baby syrian, Patches, three days ago and he's very very nervous.

He'll run on his wheel all day, sleep by his wheel, but when someone even walks near his cage, he jumps. I carefully put him in his ball and pet him in there, but there's no such thing as holding him. I hand fed him carrots which he was okay with, but he's very skittish. Is there anything I can do to make Patches more comfortable and adjust to me and my boyfriend easier? How can i get my baby hamster more comfortable around me?
Congragulations on being a mommy of a hammy :)

I am getting a hamster in 2 weeks , also a baby syrian. The best thing to do to get them used to you is time. It's only been 3 days , and I know you're excited because you just got your baby, so you obviously want to play with it, but your hamster needs to get used to your surroundings. For the first couple days (maybe even a week) don't touch your hamster alot to let it get used to his surroundings. Just look at it, don't touch it for that time, so the hammy gets used to you being around it , and gets used to his cage. Then after about a week, start putting your hand in there, so you hamster gets your scent. Then after that, start trying to take it out of its cage , and take it out for a little longer each day . Then your hammy should get very used to you and you guys will have a great bond ! Hope this helped !How can i get my baby hamster more comfortable around me?
It may be the breed of hamster, some breeds can be more nervous then others, Dwarf hamsters seem to be like this, if you have a teddy bear hamster you shouldn't have to worry, remember not to stress him out, there little hearts can beat a mile a minute if under to much stress this can cause him to have a heart attack, some rodents have heart problems , this may not be the case with yours , it takes alot of gentle handling over time for them to get use to you rememberer before you adopted him he was probably never held ,quite a shock if you ask me , just be patient and gentle mabe its to earl for his ball, try gettingn a medium sized box with somshavingng that you can view him in, cooing and talking to him in a calm voice will help
hi hamster!

very cute name by the way (ha ha).

i'd wait until you've had him for a total of a week to touch him.

first i'd get a hamster pen, up until the week is up

feed him here and their, give him toy's to play around and

for about 5 minutes a day just stand in front of his cage and watch him

so he's used to human interaction once the week is up attempt to feed him a carrot, scoop him up put him in his hamster playtime pen , sit in it and see if he jumps on you repeat this until he jumps on you then try getting more interactive you have to understand if you didn't buy him from a breeder than most likely, he will be skittish ( boo hoo ).

oh and try not to feed him wet foods or treats more than once a week! it can upset their digestive system.
First run your clean hands all through his bedding so he can get used to your sent and associate it as safe. Also, it may sound weird but put some tissue in your sock for a couple of hours then give it to him. It will give him a further chance to get use to your scent. Also give him a chance to settle in for a couple days or so.
Give it some time. Hand-feeding is a good idea to get him to get used to your smell. Continue doing it. Play with it more, so it will get used to you. Once you play with it and take care of it more, it will adjust to you and start being friendlier. Hope he will adjust to you soon. =)
You had just gotten him. You need to give it more time.

And its hard to hold on to a hamster they're curious little things who like to run around.

Just need to give it more time. Put you hand in Patches cage let him smell and what not.
Well my hamster was like that when i first got him too :)

If he's just a baby then he will need time to get use to you...

Give him some time and space and he will like you more and more everyday :)

Good Luck !
you need to gain trust give him about a week to learn his surrounding.
hold her more
