Shop assistant just looks at you & estimates your bra size, but doesn't...?

... measure you using a tape measure, is it possible they would get the wrong size?





I mean, how can someone (even someone who's an assistant in a lingerie shop) know your size if they don't actually measure you up with a tape measure?





If the assistant just looks at you and guesses, could they be wrong? Are are they right because they're using to doing it, maybe?

A tape measure isn't a great way to get sized for bras; it's pretty hit or miss for different women. The best bra fitters do actually fit you by just looking at you, but they do it a certain way. They'll usually have you take off your shirt and look carefully at how your current bra fits you and ask you what size you're wearing. From that their experience allows them to make a good estimate of what size you actually should be wearing. There's a video of a properly done professional bra fitting that doesn't use a tape measure on the Bravissimo website.





There are on the other hand some 'professional' fitters who'll just glance at you as soon as you walk into the shop and declare you to be a certain size, regardless of what kind of bra or shirt you may be wearing, or even if you've got 3 sweaters on. Hint: it'll usually be something like 34B - the universal size that somehow fits everyone!


Avoid those like the plague. I've met too many of them, and whenever I take a look around their shop it also coincidentally turns out that they have a very limited range and don't carry anything even close to the size I know, after many months of trial and error, is my correct size. They can't. For the best fit, you must get measured.
