How would you get even with someone who was spreading lies about you?

My friend has just found out that someone who used to live near her has been telling awful, spiteful lies about her for no reason. My friend knew that there was something going on because some of the neighbours who used to speak to her now ignore her even when she talks to them. I have told her not to worry about it but it is clearly upsetting her. She has spoken to the woman in question and the woman denied it but two other people have confirmed that she did indeed say these things. I would like this woman to feel how my friend feels at the moment, nothing too serious but enough to make her squirm.How would you get even with someone who was spreading lies about you?
You know, I think I've decided I'm evil, because situations like the one you described bring out the worst in me. I think what I'd do in this situation would be a lot of discreet detective work on the woman who was spreading lies. Then I would send her an anonymous letter that went something like this:





';I've discovered from numerous reports that you seem to enjoy spreading lies about people. I wonder how you'd handle it and how much your reputation would suffer if someone started spreading *the truth* about you:';





and then make a long list of embarrassing but accurate bits of information about her that I'd turned up in the course of my detective work--things she might not, perhaps, want her friends or acquaintances to know.





I'd end the letter by saying, ';If you don't want this information to get out to family and friends, stop the malicious gossip TODAY.';How would you get even with someone who was spreading lies about you?
This type of person must put other people down in order to feel better about herself. The more your friend shows she is upset, the more the ';sicko'; enjoys it.





The best revenge is success. As was said previously, rise above it.


Pay no mind to what is being said. Continue to do what is right and others will see ';sicko'; for what she really is--jealous.
You can tell her to cut the crap (excuse my language) and tell her that what she is doing is not legal and is considered slander and as a U.S citizen, you have the right to taking her to court for a defamation case.
The best revenge is that people do not beleive her. Do nothing but be yourselves. She will get her reputation soon enough.
