Question about dealing with men? How open should you be and how soon?

I'm 26, turning 27 in the summer. Even though I'm young now, I will not be young forever and I want some stability and consistency in all areas of my life. I do want to get married and have a family one day but there is something serious preventing that from happening.





I've dated a lot in the past and even been engaged and almost married once but everything in terms of my relationships/experiences with men have been disasters. I am now very pessimistic about whether there is even someone who is compatible for me and I know I'm not that bad of a catch. I said that I want to make 2009 to be the year that dating gets better for me. Now, I do overthink everything and I try to come up with strategies for how I will act on dates or with men in general. Even though some men are just jerks regardless, I am looking at myself too.





So, one thing about me is that I'm not expressive about my feelings, I've always been that way and it's nothing personal usually. I am always nice in a formal, standoffish, aloof kind of way and I don't know if I need to be more agressive. Is it good to say and do things that let a man know I like him? I always thought of that as being pushy and desperate but maybe I'm wrong?





I know this seems basic but I'm trying to do everything the right way because I don't know if it's me on some level. Everyone around me is finding love, getting in nice relationships, getting married, and I'm just growing older and frustrated. Thanks.Question about dealing with men? I think that when you find the right person, you won't have to question whether or not you should open up -- it'll happen automatically. If you find that you're dating and not wanting to express yourself with the other person, then that should tell you he's not the right one. Don't worry about everyone around you finding love -- everyone is different. Take your time.
Open up ! Don't come up with strategies for how you will act. Are you fake? Because that's how you appear to others acting that way. Be yourself.





Yes, its ok for a woman to say if she likes a guy of compliments him. This is a major problem for some women as they want all the compliments, but give nothing back in the same way.

If you find yourself getting into the same patterns maybe it is time to change strategy or maybe be more open minded in your selection or elimination process in relationships? Maybe a change the flow your relationships progress?
Well life usually isn't so plannable like you want it to be, so quite trying to plan it out so much, just set some goals and when you reach the, set some new ones and work towards them, be more open and try to be less shy about talking to guys, try to be where you tend to meet lots of people, say like groups with like interests you like. If you meet a man you like, how is he going to know if you don't tell him? Don't throw yourself at him, just tell him you find him interesting to you and then just let things go along as you talk with him. Just look at what you did in the past and try not to do anything that turned out bad for you , yet keep the good from it.
The best way to be is to always be yourself; that should be the one thing you don't have to think about...it comes naturally.





You are definitely over-thinking this; there is no such thing as doing everything right.





You need to relax and let go, and please don't focus on everyone else around you. You'll find out later that some of them should have waited.

Reparations for slavery: one drop of black and you get a check? ?

If reparations were to be handed out for slavery how would we distribute the money and to whom would be qualified? i mean we got what is called the ';One drop rule'; in this country( and i reject this concept) However i mean if one drop makes you black then one drop would mean as little as 1% black blood, do you realize how many white people in America could find at least 1% of black blood in them if they were to do an admixture test. The government would have to cut a lot of checks or give away a lot of land and mules, or would we now deem the ';one drop rule'; as moronic NOW that there's money and or property being handed out; and only the people with a certain amount of black blood would be deemed qualified to collect, cause if one drop is enough to make someone 100% black then even someone with 1% black in them would be entitled to just as much as someone that was 90% or 100% black.according to the one drop rule that America loves sooo much they would get their 40 acres and a mule too, would ';I'; being half black be entitled to 40 acres and a mule or would it be 20 acres and half a mule? would someone that's 15 % black be entitled to the full 40 acres and the whole mule or would they only be entitled to 15% of 40 acres and a mule? and if the above statement is the case wouldn't that be a double standard? because before there was money or property being givin out the only thing you needed to be 100% black is one drop. i wonder if blacks would want to get rid of the ';one drop rule'; when it came to reparations. and i also wonder how many whites would want to one drop themselves and now deem themselves black cause they found 1% black in their blood so they could get something out of it too. would Wentworth Miller and Mariah Carey get a full share or would they only get 25% how bout Tiger he is only 1/4 black, would blacks be so gung hoe to claim him as a black man then?( not that he needs 40 acres and a mule or any of the celebs i just mentioned I'm just saying) serious answers pleaseReparations for slavery: one drop of black and you get a check? ?
Any reparations would not be on that basis, and your ';reasoning,'; somewhat faulty as it is, is one reason. Reparations would be nominal in direct payment--the rest would beef up education and training programs for the most disadvantaged in our society such as black families in the south that still don't have running water or electricity. There will not be ANY reparations for for an event that ended over 140 years ago. Stop worrying about a non issue.

Reparation are a joke. Any group of people can find that they were discriminated against and demand reparations. NO ONE ALIVE TODAY LIVED THROUGH IT. How does someone deal with social anxiety and anti social disorders?

I have been doing this on my own and I'm getting better. I want to go and find job interviews but even the thought makes me panic. Before I wouldn't even go into a store or restaurant because I hated when someone even looked at me. I get paranoid and think everyone is out there to get me. I am afraid to talk to people because all I think about are the other people judging me and putting me down. Like I said earlier I am getting a little better because I can go into stores and restaurant now but not yet big parties or bars. I don't want to live my life like this any longer it sucks! Just a little at a time. You might want to look into joining a social group, like even a bowling league, they only meet once a week, and that will allow you to slowly integrate into more socializing.

Is this a good proposal? For school?

This is a part of my quarterly which is worth 25 % of my grade. We need to outline a research paper and we get to choose a topic out of a long list provided to us. But it also has to be approved and so we had to write a proposal saying what we planed to do in the paper, why we chose the topic, and how we planned to gather information. I chose having celebrities as role models.





In this paper I plan to argue that having celebrities as a role model is not a good idea, especially for teenagers. I have chosen this topic because it seems that most teens do have a celebrity as a role model. Whether it be a pop star, athlete, actor or even someone like Paris Hilton, who doesn鈥檛 even have a profession. I believe that these teens are just setting themselves up to be let down. Most of the role models teenagers look up to are sending the wrong message about drugs, alcohol, sex, eating disorders, violence, and relationships. Now not all celebrities are bad people to look up to . However, typically the better role models are not in the public eye, and if they were to be, most, if not all of them would turn out similar to any of the bad role models today. And since I have a strong opinion on this subject, I believe that I can make a good argument and prove my point.





I plan to do this by gathering information on the most popular celebrity role models. And then showing how the actions they make can encourage teenagers to imitate them, leading them in the wrong direction and teaching them the wrong values. I will gather my information through the internet and articles in magazines. I have already done some research using the internet to help me establish my thesis statement. With my paper I鈥檇 like to be able to convince teenagers to look up to someone better suited to be a role model. Like for instance their parents, siblings, teachers or mentors. Choosing the regular people who know and understand you rather than looking up to someone you have never met for only their fame and wealth.Is this a good proposal? For school?
I think it has good merit as a starting point, however this may lead to a very difficult statement to prove in the way in which you seem to be doing. Your proposal, while sound, is leading to a very subjective paper, into which your research will be focused only upon the potential negative aspects of celebrity role models. You will need to become less general, and focus on more specific people to prove or disprove what you are saying.





Yes, I do agree that Paris Hilton is a terrible role model, however, as you have said, there are a number of very good potential role models in the celebrity world.





A good start, but you need to narrow down your area of research. Also, it may be a good idea to focus on either male or female role models, and how they can negatively impact their male or female counterparts.

There will always be a Leader and follower. Even the promised equality by the leader would never exist but there will always be a naive. This essay will analyze the leader Napoleon and the follower Boxer and how they in a way destroy freedom and equality on the Animal Farm.








Napoleon started out as someone who would be part of the animal farm but ended up being the ruler of the animal farm. He came to power because he was pig and pigs were considered smart in the book. He also had to get rid of Snowball to become the leader because he saw Snowball as a competition. The actions that Napoleon take to destroy freedom and weaken equlity was that he gives more rights and freedom to the pigs than any animals. He also cancels the sunday meetings and makes all the decisions by himself. He also weakened the equality by acting like an human day by day, for example, he sleeps in a bed, drinks. He also destroyed the freedom by making the animals work hard. Napoleon is selfish and fearful. He kept his power mostly beacause of propaganda. He also kept his power by himself himself feared by the animal, he did this by raising the dogs to intimidate and eventually kill the animals who opposed or thought about opposing Napoleon. The main goal of Napoleon was to have absolute power in the animal farm. He also had deals with the neighbhourhood farmers. He did achieve by changing few rules such as “ All animals are equal” and making that into “ All animals are equal but some are more equal than other”.








Boxer is the hard working animal in the farm. He believes that the solution for a problem is that you just had to work hard. He weakens the equality on the farm by saying” Napoleon is always right”. He also weakens the equality by calling Napoleon the leader but infact in the beginning everyone was supposed to be equal. He also gives up his freedom by working very hard and working over time. He didnt realize that the animals are losing their freedom and equality because he believes Napoleon is always right and does everything just for the profict of the farm. His behaviour is typical of the most other followers on Animal Farm. He is also considered the most loyal supporter of Napoleon. He himself without knowing propagandas by saying that Napoleon is always right.








The incidents in the Animal farm proves that there will never be equality because there will always be someone to abuse the power. This also shows how an leader will do anything to get absolute power and how absolute power can control even someone's mind.HOW DOES MY ESSAY LOOK?

First of all, I think your introduction paragraph and your conclusion are much too short. They should summarize what you are trying to tell the audience, who, what, where, when, why, how, and your thoughts. What you have now is hardly anything.


One HUUUUGE aspect you are missing is the THESIS! You must state what you are trying to prove in this essay, and three points that support it. (In which, you only have two body paragraphs, anyway -- you should have one more.)


For example, let's say I was writing an essay about why teenagers should have cell phones. I would write a thorough introduction, and then at the end of the paragraph I would add a thesis:


';In this piece of prose it will be proven that teenagers should possess cell phones for emergencies, to socialize and to open their eyes to new technology.';





In addition, your sentences sound choppy, and some make no sense at all! It's almost as if you speak another language, popped an essay into a translator and used it. Find better ways to PROVE your point! You can't just state whatever research you found. Share your feelings on the topic, and persuade the reader.





You should really use Spell Check and a thesaurus. You have at least 12 grammatical and spelling errors that I can see. As for a thesaurus, using a wide range of words will make you appear smarter. (Just make sure YOU know what the word means as well.)

Okay, I know this isn't even slightly well written, but I was bored and I had an urge to write.








';Great. This is just perfect.'; I thought. ';I never should have cut yesterday.'; I said to Kayla. And of course she responds with, ';Duh.';





It was Saturday around noon and I had invited Kayla over so I could copy her notes from Mr. Patterson's lecture that I had missed Friday. Now I regret skipping his class. I've always been easily annoyed by people, but Kayla Safdari was by far the most annoying. She was the smartest person you'll ever meet though- a good note-taker too- which is why I invite her over whenever I need to copy someones notes.


Anyways, here I am copying her lecture scripts and she will not shut up. There is just this constant stream of words pouring from her mouth and I honestly can't stand it. She keeps asking about Tyler, my boyfriend for the past four months. She's asking idiotic questions such as, ';Have you guys kissed yet?'; or ';Do you guys sleep together?'; Which I respond with ';Yeah we kiss and no we don't sleep together.';


That's what makes her so annoying, her questions. Well, not really the questions so much as the persistent way she asks them. Every time I skip class- this obviously isn't the first- I have her come over; I never go to her place because it smells like cat litter and sex, even though I know for a fact she's never had intercourse with anyone.


So, she's actually a nice kid, but that's exactly it, she's still a kid. Although, I'm drawn to quiet, I kind of feel like I should say something but I'm not really good at making conversation. So I just blurt out ';Do you still like Micheal?'; which if I really wanted quiet I wouldn't have asked that but I actually was a little curious as to how things were going with the two of them. Anyways, she started talking about how they were really close to going on a real date and maybe even hooking up and **** like that. I didn't want to piss her off by saying something witty and stupid, so I just walk in to the living room slash kitchen of my apartment; sit down, then turn on the tv that even someone with 20/20 vision would need glasses to see it's so small.


I'm sitting there for five minutes thinking about Tyler and just spacing out in general. It's been quite for a while so I turn around and she's standing there tapping her foot in agitation and I can tell she asked me a question. The she asks me again ';Do you want me to leave or something?'; And normally that wouldn't phase me, but she has this extremely disturbing look on her face, that I've never seen before.


All I can say is ';Sure.'; and I even stutter a little when I say that. I'm trying to think of something else to say because I don't like when I'm rude to people, but she's already gathering her books and walking out.

Annsley said she was pretty mad when she got in.'; Those were the first words out out of Tyler's mouth when he came over a little after five o'clock, to which I respond with; ';Pissed? what? ';Anyways,'; he said, ';I talked to Ashley after work today and she said Kayla looked pretty mad.'; To which I simply said, ';Oh.';


See, Ashley is Tyler's little sister and coincidentally Kayla's roommate. And I guess you could say that Kayla and Ashley are pretty close. But, so were Ashley and Tyler. So, everything I said to Kayla got back to Ashley and most of the time Tyler. I like Ashley, don't get me wrong. we have a lot in common, except for the age difference. But it's a little weird for me to talk about Tyler with her, you know, because he's her brother.


Well, Kayla and Ashley both have pretty big mouths so I guessed he already knew how I had upset Kayla. And I was right, he did. He said Ashley had called and she had spoken to Kayla before. Then, he goes on to ask, ';Why did you kick he rout?'; and I say ';I didn't kick her out, she left.'; Just like every other time I deny something he says he goes up to the roof so he can ';get his head clear of all this ****.'; I don't really know why he does this, but I have asked Ash. She says it's because he needs time to cool down, because if he doesn't he'll start a fight or something.


Did I mention I get annoyed easily? Well, I get mad even easier. So,I went off to sulk in my room, but left the door open so when he came back down he'd see me.





I ended up falling asleep, and when I woke up his arms were around me and I have to admit it felt really good. But good things end, right? So, I yawned, rolled over, out of his arms and stared at where my alarm clock should be until I could see clearly. ';Damn.'; I said. He mumbles, still asleep, ';What?'; Then opens his eyes and follows my gaze to the clock and says ';Whoah babe, I'm sorry. I should have woke you up when I got in. Sorry.';


I pulled away, got off the bed and walkedWhat do you think of this story?
